They'd planned to travel together after the war, but their plans were axed when, after Maryse stepped down, they were voted in as the new heads of the Institute and they accepted. Īfter a brief separation and struggle due to Jace's unwilling bond with Sebastian, the two remained strong and fought through another war together. Eventually, the pair found out that they were not actually siblings and were able to be together. Clary briefly tried to move on by dating Simon, but this soon ended when Clary was forced by the Seelie Queen to have "the kiss that she most desires" with Jace. They tried to maintain a familial relationship, with Jace blaming his feelings for Clary on his demon blood. Their blossoming romance was put on hold when Valentine led them to believe that they were both his children. Initially distant, particularly due to Jace's attitude towards love being a weakness, the pair grew closer as they worked together to look for Clary's mother until they eventually shared a kiss on Clary's birthday. After their first encounter at the Pandemonium Club, Jace became incredibly curious about Clary and had been the one to bring her to the Institute.
